Dogs In need

I am home now, home now
I've been waiting for forever to find you, to find you
I'm not alone now, alone now
Cuz you've taken in my heart from the cold
All I know is every time I look into your eyes I'm home

Alice 03/20/2010 New!

Port Coquitlam, B.C. Canada

Alice

We are looking to place an approximately 2-year old Tibetan Mastiff female named Alice.  Alice came to rescue from a kennel in Port Coquitlam, B.C. Canada where she was waiting for her 3rd owner to find her a new home. Other than that fact, we have no information about her history.

While she is on the small side, Alice is also very thin.  She is currently weighing 36 kg (80 lbs) but could very easily handle another 5 kg (10-11 lbs).  When Alice came into foster care, she was suffering from entropion but this condition was surgically corrected in February 2010. The photos reflect the shaved areas from her surgery.  She also had broken both her upper canines which we believe was the result of trying to get out of a small confined space.  (She becomes frantic to the point of self-injury when kenneled.)  Her broken canines are scheduled to be extracted shortly. This girl is already spayed, her vaccinations are up to date and she has been dewormed.

When Alice first came to us, she understandably appeared to be very needy and fearful of being abandoned, but she has quickly adjusted to spending the day with our male and female TM without demanding our attention.  She gets along with other dogs if they are her size or larger. She is very affectionate, loves to play, enjoys cuddles and belly rubs.  She is energetic and boisterous with her new friends and is perfectly happy in our fenced yard.  She has an understanding of basic obedience training commands such as sit, down and come.  She is housebroken and has demonstrated no destructive behavior. Alice has a dominant but not aggressive temperament. While we have no children living here, she has been very well behaved when introduced to children.  Regardless, we always recommend adult supervision when children are near.  She is absolutely NOT trustworthy around cats.

As is true with most Tibetan Mastiffs, Alice is very strong and stubborn but we believe that she will make a wonderful companion for an experienced big dog owner who can give her lots of exercise and a daily routine.

Mae & Makai have found a new home together in Ohio!

Mae
Mae
Makai
Makai

These very sweet dogs are in need of a home due to the misfortune of their owner who has lost her own home. Mae and Makai were bred by Donald Davis, a US breeder who passed away last year, so Himalaya Tibetan Mastiffs and Sa Nashoba Tibetatan Mastiffs are working together to find them a new home. Mae's registered name is Mei Xiang Saje and her date of birth is Jan. 22, 2001. Her dam is Kyra Rose and her sire is Ely Tanuk. Mae is spayed and in excellent health. Her vaccinations are up to date. Makai was never registered by his owner, but he is a brother to Mae from a later breeding. His date of birth is February 12, 2003. He is also in apparently excellent health and he is intact. Any prospective home will have to agree to have him neutered.

These dogs are in Chesapeake, Virginia and are being fostered by Susie Ochsenbein. These dogs are beautifully behaved and easy to handle. Both dogs are a used to being outside more than inside. They would make lovely pets for someone who is willing to open their heart to two very deserving dogs.

Black & Tan 4 Year Old Male
Gold 4 Year Old Female

A family with two Tibetan Mastiffs is looking to place their two dogs as family pets in a loving forever home. The son of the current owners has developed severe allergies to all of their household animals and so they have decided to place them up for adoption.

Male: His call name is Simba and he is 4 years old. He is a black & tan male and is already neutered. A boy with a mild temperament but he does like to bark during the evening hours so he will have to be brought indoors at night. He has had TPLO surgery performed on both knees some time ago but he has had no more problems since.

Female: Her call name is Sheba and she is also 4 years old. Sheba is a gold sable and is already spayed. This pretty girl is a little more shy than her buddy Simba but still has a mild temperament.

Simba and Sheba have been raised as house pets and are used to playing in a fenced yard. They have been well-socialized. Also included in the family were 2 cats and the dogs were loving and cuddled with them.

Both dogs have been raised together since their owners received them at 12 weeks of age so the family and foster care are asking that both Tibetan Mastiffs be adopted and welcomed as a team if possible. They have already lost their family, we would hate for them to be separated at this point in their lives.

Simba's breeder has taken on the responsibility for fostering and re-homing both dogs.  The dogs are in Colorado until the first week of June but will then be traveling to Virginia where they will live in foster care until a suitable home can be found. Please contact Traci Nelson for more information if you are interested in adopting one or both of these Tibetan Mastiffs in need.

Joe Bear - has found a home!

Joe Bear

Black & Tan Neutered 1.5 Year Old Male

Joe Bear wandered into someone's backyard and instantly won their heart. Unfortunately the lady was ederly and not in a position to keep him. He is currently staying in a foster home and they find him to be absolutely wonderful. They have reported that he is gentle as can be. He is excellent with all the other dogs there, horses, pygmy goats, cats, ducks, geese and chickens. They have a teenaged daughter whose friends are over all the time and Joe Bear is a perfect gentleman. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and was tested/cleared for heartworm and is receiving HW prevention.

Nate has found a home!

Nate Nate

Black & Tan Male

Well, Nate left for his new home in Utah last Sat. morning. His new mom, Patti, flew in Friday night, rented an SUV and spent the night with us and Nate so we all felt comfortable with the placement. She was wonderful, and Nate liked her immediately. She was on the floor with him from the moment he walked in, loving and kissing him, he was in heaven. They got up and were on the road by 8:30 the next morning. She made it to Utah from Indiana by Sunday night. Nate and her were real road warriors. Nate traveled fine, she would stop every few hours to walk him and give him a pee break. We had loaded the car up with blankets and treats so he was riding in the lap of luxury!!! It's only been 4 days but he is doing very well. Playing with her teenage boys and romping all through the house. They also purchased and had built before he came home a 10 x 20 run with a top on it beside the house under some big trees so he can enjoy the outdoors without fear of him getting loose. He is sleeping in what ever bedroom he chooses to at night and lays around and watches TV with the family in the evenings. I think this is a good match and Patti and her family could not be happier. Patti's mom and dad also live near by and he walks every day too and will be stopping by in the afternoons to take Nate along when he can. Nate will have more attention then he could have dreamed of. They may even get a friend for Nate once he is settled and knows he is at home.

Thank you to Dena McKenna for working so hard to find this boy a loving home!
